Swim Lessons for Infants and Children
I teach babies as young as 7 months old all the way to elementary aged children learning stroke technique. Regardless of their age, I teach all children to swim as well as float. I provide the child (and parents) with the skills needed to be safe, effective, joyful and confident life long swimmers.
Even after 26 years of teaching, every single day, the children I teach amaze me and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to work with them in the water.

FAQs
How long does it take for the child to learn to swim?
Every single child is different and therefore, their time in lessons depends on a number of factors including developmental level, personality, coordination, temperament and overall exemence of being in the water. I do not guarentee a child finishing in a certain amount of time as I find that it is best that I cater each lesson to each individual child.
Typically children work with me from 8 weeks to 16 weeks though many people keep their children in lessons year round.
Will my child cry?
Most likely, yes. I think it’s very important that the parent be prepared for some crying. And crying can range from none at all to quite intense crying. Again, it all depends on the child. When I taught my own daughters, one did not cry and the other one did. I definitely understand that is can be hard to watch your child cry.
I have some babies who cry for only one or two lessons and some that protest the whole way through.
My goal is to comfort them, love them as they gain skills and help them understand that they can do amazing things!
How are parents involved?
During lessons the child and I are in the pool together. I encourage the parents to watch though some parents prefer not too and will wait in their car or around the corner. I leave this decision up to the parent.
I love to educate the parents about what I am doing, why and how the process of learning plays out.
Additionally, I encourage the parents to practice swimming when not in lessons and I am more than happy to teach the parent what to do in order to help the child and parent feel confident.
Often the chid will cry in lessons but be happy as can be at home with their parent. Parents should allow the child to set the pace at home, encouraging them and allowing them to have fun.
Where are lessons located?
Lessons are taught at a private home in Jupiter, year round and in the summers at a private home in Tequesta.
I don’t have any openings for at home lessons (in which I come to you).
Current address for lessons:
598 Greenwood Drive Jupiter, Fl 3345
What is the structure of lessons?
Lessons are twenty minutes, twice a week. Sometimes parents (or the children) want more frequent lessons so we can do up to four or five lessons a week.
Lessons are offered Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday throughout the whole year.
During the winter months I teach in a heated and temperature controlled pool.
How do I know when my child is finished?
As a mother of two (now teenage!) daughters, and having taught both of them to swim, I completely understand the need for children to be as safe in the water as possible. My girls are very close in age so helping them be safe as possible was essential.
Through technique and a series of skills, positions, clothing I measure their ability to swim, roll over and continue swimming. If needed, I want the child to access air by rolling over and swimming until they get to the side of the pool or are able to get help.
I use a very specific checklist of skills as well as asking myself, “As a mama, how certain am I that this child possess the skills necessary to be as safe in the water as possible?”
Will my child retain their skills from year to year?
It is very important to continue practicing over the year. So much shifts developmentally from age 1 to age 2 or 3 and the first time back in the pool for the season, it may appear as if the child has forgotten their skills. However with a few refresher lessons, it comes back quickly.
In order to keep skill level high and actute, refresher lessons are imperative.
I teach year round and offer maintenance programs as well as refresher lessons.
What is the cost of lessons?
The cost per week for lessons is $120.00 which includes two, twenty minute sessions.
In home lessons are more expensive, variable to travel time. (though I don’t have any openings for this at this time)
Additionally, I charge a $125.00, per family one time, registration fee.
Payment is expected at the start of the week in order to secure your swim slot. Cash, Check, Venmo, PayPal and Zelle are accepted.
Need based scholarships are available. Please inquire.
